Unique Paving Materials

UNIQUE Paving Materials has been at the forefront of providing pavement repair solutions for the industry since 1959. With experience running down generations, UNIQUE needed a strong online presence that showcases their strength to the world. Of course being a big company also meant that UNIQUE required website, content and sales/marketing management tools to streamline and connect the dots in their marketing matrix.

We (Ocular Concepts) understood their requirements bottom up. It was not difficult since our founder Rich Dusky was serving as their marketing consultant. We redesigned their website and Drupal was an obvious choice when deciding on the CMS for the client website.

Apart from making sure that the administrator of the website can edit each page and the content, our programming team worked hard on developing the following applications for the client:

•  A Sales Portal – Admin creates new taxonomy items – the sales reps. The system enables two way sharing of documents between the admin and the reps. This was important as the sales portal provided an alternative to expensive file sharing tools. The sales portal connects users via the FTP without breaching the security of the system.

•  Resource Center – UNIQUE Paving Materials has a vast amount of experience in the pavement repair industry. Attributed to the knowledge the company owns, they decided to selectively share it with interested parties. We developed a password protected section that offered access to the vast experience that UNIQUE has.UNIQUE administrators have full control over changing the ownership status from temporary to permanent as required.

• Projects Gallery – For a company that offers the material for hundreds of road repair projects across the country, it is obvious to showcase the bigger projects that are done using UPM, UPM Green and Crack Filler – their industry leading products. We designed an admin controllable project gallery to showcase their product quality and paving expertise to their customers and other website visitors.

•  Product Quantity Calculator for Home end users – Small users like home owners and showroom owners usually do not know about the quantity of pavement material they need for repair. We developed a calculator that took the pothole dimensions and converted it to quantity and packs with links to order the product online.

UNIQUE found our Drupal expertise handy and all of the above got implemented in less than 4 months – much lesser than client’s expectations of a streamlined solution for all their needs.
